In an impressive display, 3YO Gelding Percussion Prince seized his maiden victory in commanding fashion in the Afgri Equipment Maiden, held at Northam Race Club on Sunday the 5th of May.
Right from the start, Percussion Prince showcased his intent, Jumping out the gates to take an early lead before settling into 5th position. The step up to 1600m seemed to suit him perfectly, as he demonstrated remarkable composure throughout the race, a level of comfort unseen in his previous outings over shorter distances.
As they rounded the bend, Jockey Steven Parnham would make his move, pulling Percussion Prince three wide and into clear air and poised for a decisive surge towards the finish line.
As the duo hit the 300m mark, Percussion Prince let down, accelerating into the lead and maintaining an impressive pace right through the line, putting two lengths on the chasing pack to claim the comfortable victory.
Percussion Prince had been steadily building towards this victory, exhibiting promise with commendable performances in his previous three races, each time finishing within the placings. Finally, on this memorable day, he pieced together a flawless performance at the demanding 1600m distance, claiming a well-deserved and resounding victory.
