DOCTOR JAY WINS ON DEBUT TO CLOSE OUT 2023

Promising 3YO gelding Doctor Jay has rewarded his owners for their patience with an impressive win on debut taking out the Own The Dream - Open Maiden at Bunbury Turf Club on New Years Eve.
Piloted by Steven Parnham, Doctor Jay jumped well to sit one out and one back and travelled nicely throughout the race. Trailing the favourite Extreme Love as they went passed the 400m the race looked in the balance at the top of the straight. Doctor Jay would then make his move just inside the 200m showing an impressive turn of foot to take the lead and win by half a length to Extreme Love.
Trainer Stefan Vahala was very pleased with the 3YO's performance on debut and although their is room for improvement the inexperienced Doctor Jay showed promising signs of what's to come.
A number of owners & connections were able to make the trip down to Bunbury to cheer on the doctor in what was a big day for the stable to close out a successful 2023 in sizzling fashion.
