FRENCH MARE SOLDANELLE SALUTES FOR FIRST WIN IN THE WEST

31st January 2024

Former French Mare Soldanelle has saluted at Ascot to take out her first victory on Australian soil.

Carrying the top weight into race 7 at Ascot late on a scorching summers day, Soldanelle proved too classy for the maiden field as she cruised to victory by 1.5 Lengths from Fashion Stakes.

After a luckless first prep on Australian soil Soldanelle bypassed the trials to run first up in a 1500m Maiden at Ascot. With Steven Parnham on board, Soldanelle jumped & travelled well into the race.

As the field rounded the bend and entered the straight, the Former French mare pulled out 5 wide and showed a nice turn of foot at the 200m mark as she pulled away from the pack to secure a comfortable victory.

Trainer Stefan Vahala was thrilled with Soldanelle's performance and said his French mare had pulled up well after the breakthrough victory.
