YEAR IN REVIEW: 2023

2023 was a year of growth for Vahala Racing Stables both on and off the track.

YEARLING SALES: In February 2023 Vahala Racing Stables welcomed 3 exciting prospects to the stable including the stables first ever all ladies horse, a grey gelding by Nicconi.

A few weeks later the team would add a 4th yearling at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sales in Melbourne, a powerful colt by 4 x Group 1 winning sprinter Blue Point. The four purchases would be a record spend for Vahala Racing Stables and connections at the Yearling sales in excess of $300,000.00 which has created opportunities to welcome more owners & connections to enjoy the thrill of thoroughbred racing with the team.

Vahala Racing Stables were also able to add experienced and proven Stayer, French import "Soldanelle" to the stable and finally in October at the Inglis Ready to Runs we added our 6th and final new thoroughbred to the roster a Smart Missile x Tituba Colt.

AT THE RACES: It's been a thrilling calendar year on the race track in 2023, highlighted by the stables first ever Metro Saturday race to race double when Lord Lala and Aztec Ruler combined in races 2 & 3 at Belmont Park on the second of September.

Allegro Sonata was also able to break her Maiden at Northam on the 10th of August as her owners and connections were rewarded for their patience and we couldn't forget Olajuwon starting at $101:1 odds to run a tough 2nd place at Ascot.

The headline of the season though was 4YO star Aztec Rulers return to racing after injuries caused the Gelding to miss his 3YO season after a promising start to his racing career. The mighty Gelding added 3 wins, and 3 second placings from his 7 starts in late winter and early spring, with barnstorming come from behind victories and photo finishes, connections and punters alike were all left entertained every time he stepped foot on the racetrack. With Aztec back in work we are looking forward to seeing the best of him in 2024.

2024 AND BEYOND: As we close off from a big year for the stable, we look forward to the challenges and opportunities 2024 will bring. With returning stars and stable favourites as well as our exciting young prospects preparing for their racing debuts, the New Year promises to be even bigger and better than the last.

From the team at Vahala Racing Stables we would like to thank all of our owners, connections and followers for your support and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
